I trust it has been a lazy Sunday and that you are ready for another week...
It is time for my weekly series " Blog it Forward"!
For those who do not know how it works. I am featuring my favourite blogs and some bloggers who have inspired me, and indeed have helped with many a techno jargon puzzle in this wonderful journey of discovery for me.
Today I have a very stylish lady and blog to share with you!!
So, I am asking for a double drum roll this time, for Sharon from the gorgeous blog, Roses and Rust!
Why double drum roll??
Well, she is a fellow South African and even better than that....a fellow Cape Townian!!
Sharon's blog was my first South African blog discovery and I was delighted when I found out that we are both in Cape Town.
So, this is how it works friends.... I sent Sharon twenty random questions to answer and then I get to play on her blog and select some of my favourite images to feature in the post.... My oh my, did I have fun with this...
Sharon's lovely blog header is a small sample of the glam to come...
By the way, I will provide the link to her blog at the end of the post and there will be some other links inserted in the post of some of my favourite posts from her blog.
Make yourself comfy, get a drink and polish those spectacles and lets open the gate and join Sharon's wonderful world...
Blog it Forward!
Introducing my favourite bloggers and their gorgeous blogs!
Twenty Random Questions: Sharon
I love this room and Sharon's little desk is a treasure.
1. How do you pamper your soul?
My weekly art class is therapy for my soul. We have beautiful music playing in the background and sometimes chat about all sorts of things while we paint and other times just paint in silence. I always feel somehow refreshed and re-energised afterwards.
I always have a deep admiration for people who have this wonderful talent and it sounds like bliss to paint with music.
Wow! The kind of painting that has me swooning in delight!
2. Name three things on your bucket list that you would like to do or that you have done.
I would love to live in France, preferably Provence for a while. I don’t see it happening while my kids are still at school, but maybe one day. I would also love to own a shop selling all the things that I love and I really struggled to think of a third. I don’t know if that makes me a bit of a saddo with no hopes and dreams, or just makes me generally content with what I have done in my life?
Provence? Nope, just down the road in Paarl, South Africa....and seriously gorgeous...click here for a peek...
I think there are many of us who share this dream of spending some time in Provence....
and Sharon's shop!
3. What is on your bed side table?
Books (lots of them) reading glasses (sadly I’ve got to that age) and photo’s of my children when they were babies. Every night when I climb into bed, it is with a touch of nostalgia for those sweet baby years.
Hang on a minute... I forgot my glasses...
I would love to master the paint technique below. Isn't is wonderful?
4. If you were a drink what would you be?
A gin and tonic. Not too sweet and quite refreshing!
5. Secret indulgence?
Sushi. When I go grocery shopping 2 or 3 times a week, a punnet of sushi inexplicably lands in my trolley and I feel compelled to eat it all on my own when I get home!
I am also a sushi addict!
6. Favourite décor shop?
In Cape Town, Block and Chisel and L’Orangerie, but I mostly love shopping at markets and junk shops for more unique bits and pieces.
Oh yes, I also love them and the quaint coffee shop. Hint hint...
7. Your favourite magazines
Art and Decoration which is a French Magazine. I can’t understand much of it, but the homes they feature are just amazing.
8. Please tell us which city you live in and then which is your dream destination
I live in Cape Town, South Africa, which is an incredibly beautiful city! My dream would be to have permanent homes both here and in Provence and move between the two. At least I have half my dream realised!
Sigh....
9. What makes you laugh?
My children and my dogs when I’m at home. And my friend Niki does a good job as well!
10.Sweet intoxication…what does this phrase evoke in your mind?
When my freshly bathed twin boys give me a good night cuddle.
11.Any hidden talents?
I paint and I know how to use a few power tools.
12.Your signature dish in the kitchen?
My kids love my bacon and tomato pasta, my girlfriends love my quiche and my husband, bless him, loves everything I make (or so he says). He’s probably nervous that I might go on strike one day.
And that friends is the gorgeous kitchen in question where Sharon plays Domestic Goddess!!! I love love it and think it's like a movie set...being a wrought iron fan those chairs is making my heart beat faster!
I would never be able to go on strike in a kitchen like this one..lol!
13.What does luxury mean to you?
Being able to be a stay-at-home mom is a luxury I don’t take for granted. And being able to indulge my passions is the biggest luxury of all.
14.If I was to make a movie about you, who should I cast to play you?
Julianne Moore, but she would have to gain a few pounds! (Maybe I should rather lose a few.)
Sharon, you stay as you are...its the movies doll...we can do anything!!
I don't know about you lot but I am reclining above....
15.I am giving you one day off from all of your daily responsibilities…what will you do?
I would love to say lie in, but I don’t know how to do that anymore. Since having children, I’ve lost the art. I’d probably go for a walk if it’s a lovely day, then come back and have a leisurely bath. Then I would treat myself to a facial, a back massage or a pedicure. A sushi lunch with some girlfriends would go down a treat. In the afternoon I would go to a movie all on my own. I have only done that 2 or 3 times but you can totally lose yourself in a movie when you are on your own without any distractions. Maybe a visit to a gallery or my favourite décor shops could be squeezed in as well. In the evening I would go out for a romantic meal with my husband. Bliss!
16.Summer evenings are for…
Being South African I have to say braai but I also love sundowners on the beach.
A braai is a BBQ folks and akin to a national sport over here come rain or shine, in fact, since many homes have indoor braais or braairooms... there's no getting away from it!!
Yip, can you belive it...braairooms!!

17.Your favourite gadget or appliance?
My laptop and IPad for fun and my washing machine for necessity.
What's life without an armoire...pretty dull!
18.What influences your style?
Mostly my budget!
Brialliant answer!
19.Shoes or handbag?
Handbags – I am a bit of a bag lady!
20.The best part of your day is…
The mornings after my boys have all left for school and the house is quiet. It’s like the calm after a storm. I sit on my stoep with my cup of coffee, the newspaper and my laptop. The quiet gives me time to think about things and plan my day.
Please visit Sharon at Roses and Rust here to see all the gorgeousness that I could not fit into this post!! You will be enchanted by the lady and her style.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit here.
Thank you for your company
Live Well
