Good morning friends! It is a glorious morning in Cape Town and we firmly have our sights on spring! Although, I guess there will be a number of icy detours to contend with before we abandon our winter woollies.
I would like to welcome you all back here to my little dot in the universe and especially my new followers and those of you who have joined the face book page!
Secondly, I want to thank you all for the wonderful comments on my recent posts. and if I have not gotten back to visit you in return, please forgive me, but it was a tumultuous week of hospital visits and not much blogging going on. However, today I have the wonderful prospect of visiting you all and catching up on all the news. There are loads of you to visit though so bare with me I will roll around to you sooner or later.
I have so many things on my mind to blog about and one of those have been sitting on my mood boards for a while now. Whilst lounging around the hospital waiting room and paging through old magazines Johan Jacob Zwiegelaar provided me , yet again with the most wonderful distraction imaginable! And so, for today, I would like to share some of his genius spaces with you. Some of you might be familiar with him and his layered understated elegant rooms! In any event , do enjoy and try to pick a favourite.
After that kitchen, I am determined to get rid of the "built in cupboard" look once and for all. Mr Zwiegelaar's entire portfolio can be viewed HERE. Do enjoy it. So lets recap...
I will be joining Mosaic Monday at Dear Little Red House with Mary who graciously hosts us every Monday. please follow the link and enjoy the gardens that Mary posts.

I just love the colours and freshness of this little nook full of interest and eye candy. I just want to flop down with a sigh of pleasure....By the way, I am not much of a stripe lover (although things are evolving...) but I love these.
Now, how in the world do you leave a bathroom like this one? Take a good look at the Nguni on the side.
A room with many layers but still fresh and elegant and comfortable! Oh, and loads of lamp love going on here.
I am really enjoying all the potted cacti in the above rooms, often over sized but such a wonderful accent to use. And of course, I am loving the textures and shape it adds to the rooms. Look below at the focal point and how gorgeous it looks on that wired table!
This dining room is just one of those rooms that you can't get enough of. And every time I take a new look at it I see some new element that I enjoy!
Note the lamp.
This room is probably my favourite one by him. It has all the elements that I love. The colours, busts, glass and of course I have similar painting in my living room. It is cosy and warm but elegant and filled with interest to give maximum pleasure. Okay, I will stop now, so you can enjoy the room!!
Black and white does not really feature in my home's colour palette, although I love wearing black and white together, quite a lot actually, come to think about it. It can often be overdone and too much but take a look at perfection in black and white.....
I just adore the pillows, well that is apart from all the rest of course which is just stunning!
Jars to die for!! Yes please I will stay the day and might even take a bath....
Really enjoying the touch of living green in here....
Love the tree fern...will feel like a Forest nymph....
I have left the best for last!! To my mind this is art. The whole thing!! It is gorgeous and has a rooster keeping court as well. So sorry, but I am not cooking anything for you I am just going to drool and we can phone for pizza and bubbly...

Wow, everything is just gorgeous. I would love to have anyone of these beautiful rooms. Lovely photos and mosaics. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this style.I didn't know the name but he is a real artist. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely FABULOUS post, Veronica! I loved everything in it. I felt as if I had taken a trip to a wonderful oasis. The textures, the furnishings, the geometic pillows... all of it was wonderful. Thank you for sharing it with us. I just painted a small study that same mocha in the shot of his living room, and I love it. We had a sitting room painted that color for many years, and I just did it again. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to meet you...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Beautiful blog! Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I'm your newest follower:)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous rooms, all. The first bathroom is a winner, but my favorite room has to be the living room with the lit fireplace. I could happily settle there for a good long time.
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin...these rooms are fantastic. Love the black and white check floor (had one installed in our kitchen years ago) and that dining room is fantastic! The thing about white upholstered furniture or even slipcovers is that it is a dream for our house...the reality would be constant cleaning. The pictures of these rooms and the mosaics are just stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt is all so beautiful...love the black and white checked floor on the diagonal. Your mosaics are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so beautiful. Great inspiration. I'm sorry, I can't pick just one. So, I'm going to cheat and pick his entire portfolio. lol
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful collages. I love the black and white, the contrast is bold and lovely.
ReplyDeletePatti
OMG how could you ask us to choose a favorite! Impossible! Although I did just pin the black and white living room last night :) Great post!

Hello Veronica. Very nice posting. Lovely rooms and some unique and inventive ways of decor. The only thing that made me go Hmn! was that round mirror in front of the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteTrinidad
The bathrooms and that dining room (swoon) but the black and white kitchen (swoon, swoon) lol. very beautiful images indeed.
ReplyDeletelove the checkered floors. So many good ideas. Will have to visit again. Fiona
ReplyDeleteThese room are just beautiful. I'll take that bathroom with the claw foot tube and the black kitchen with the check floor please! Such wonderful inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMarianne :)

ReplyDeleteI'm your latest follower, looking to more and more from you!
Those are all fabulous styles for an elegant home! But my favorite is your previous post on ways with watermelon, both fun and beautiful. Lastly, thanks so much for visiting my blog and supplying the ID for the Lotus bertolii. I already corrected it with a link to this blogsite.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds for sure!! He really is a wonderful talent. I find many of the local decorators a bit bland in their style. We need more like him. x Sharon
ReplyDeleteHi friends.
ReplyDeleteShell~ I will do my best to send warmth to the east coast!
Touché Sharon..lol.. that was funny!
Trindad ~ Sharp eye!!! I was wondering who would pick it up and obviously the man who hunts for treasure would! I guess the mirror is for summer and migrates to a closet for winter, but still...a bit of momentary madness..
Andrea~ My pleasure.
Welcome to all the new followers ~ so happy to chat to you!
The photos were all stunning. I love black and white especially.
ReplyDeleteEverything was so pristine....I get the sense there would be no animals or young children living in those rooms. :)
absolutely BEAUTIFUL images. LOVE the black and white! to die for!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Veronice, wow, I'm in awe of all this beauty!!! Thanks for showing us! Love those stripes and the neutral colors! So you've been to Positano, too. What a lovely place. Have a great week!!!
