Chrismas Tree Treasures...

Hello everyone.

I can almost not believe that a week has gone by and I have not published a post! Goodness me, what happened to the time?  I am very pleased to be able to come and take refuge in blogland for a bit to recover from the Silly Season's demands and to share in the inspiration and beauty. This to me, is almost akin to a spa day!

My empty nest is filled and I am very happy indeed to have my kids here. We decorated the Christmas trees and had a load of fun...

In my lounge I have a small tree that stands atop a antique table inlaid with ivory. There isn't a lot of space here, so this small tree fits just perfectly.

Much to my daughter's delight, I have kept this tree in monotone colours...

I found all these wooden cut out decorations, at the Christmas market in Stellenberg,  with the most intricate details...bell shaped and  Christmas tree - shaped frames with a little festive scene inside..delicate and beautiful.

My son, on the other hand wanted to paint them in bright colours! Maybe next year....

Wooden angels...

The "Help" was close at hand to supervise the light being detangled...holding down the one end of the string, you understand?

The tree in the family room is a fresh pine tree branch and each year it has some or other "feature". This year the top branch is a droopy affair and the star is hanging to one side, but it all adds to the ambiance! It is decorated predominantly in red.

The kids end the decoration by literally throwing loads of tinsel, as you can see from the angel below, onto the tree and "The Help".

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in life—
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one has a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
(Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!)

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.
By Joanna Fuchs

I hope you are all enjoying the festive season, that you will be safe, and treasure the time you have to spend with your loved ones doing the things that makes your Festive season memorable.

Happy December

Live Well

  2. I love your fresh natural tree! Reminds me of the trees my grandmother had. She lived in the country so we'd just go out in the woods and cut one down. Something so special about that. Your little tree is adorable too!

  13. Veronica, I think your monotone tabletop tree is lovely. Although you probably wouldn't know it by all the color in my trees, I do like a simple neutral color. I haven't yet shown my brown tree- guess I should get on the ball and edit my photos! As for your live tree- I think every tree should exhibit a little character, so your drooping top fits the bill nicely. :-) And having "help" is never a bad thing- so what if there is mis-tossed tinsel. Again- character! Glad you enjoyed coming by for a visit and seeing my trees. :-) Merry, Merry! Sue
